NLMK grain oriented (GO) steel is a rolled product with improved electromagnetic properties, available in thicknesses from 0.15 mm
Electricity generation
NLMK’s GO steel is used in the production of power, distribution, and instrument transformers. Power, distribution, and instrument transformers are used in thermal power plants (TPPs) and nuclear power plants (NPPs). In addition, transformers are installed at power plants based on renewable energy sources: wind, hydro, and solar energy.
Electric power transmission and distribution
Distribution transformers are essential for the electricity supply of cities and metropolitan areas. Distribution transformers convert electricity according to voltage: they increase it at the point of production (to reduce the load on power lines) and reduce it at the point of consumption to the values required by customers. This makes it possible to supply power to a variety of facilities: from household appliances to residential and commercial complexes, shopping and business centers, industrial enterprises, and road infrastructure.
Transport
NLMK’s GO steel is used to ensure the performance of urban electric transport, heavy wheeled and tracked equipment used in mining, marine and railway transportation. It is also used in power supply and control systems and charging stations for electric vehicles.
